Prologue

Samhita's Pov

Finally, the day has came. My wedding day. I am marrying to someone else. I will becoming someone's wife. But the main question is do I want that?

I...I don't want this marriage. I can't. I promised him I'd be only his. How can I marry someone else? I want to run away to tear off these clothes and this jewelry. They're suffocating me I...I can't breathe.

"Kanhaji aap toh jante hai na mai apne yansh se kitna prem krti hu fir kyu aap yeh meri esi pariksha le rahe hai pehle hi aapne hume unse dur kardiya hai aur ab yeh. Please kanhaji kuch kriye ab sab aapke bharose hai"

After sometime Etasha lead me to the mandap and I was stand in front of my fiance. The man I suppose to marry. I feel nothing I am blank.

Pandit ji asks me to put the jai mala around his neck but I can't hear him. His words fade into the background. Instead the beautiful moments with Yansh replay in my mind like a movie our stolen glances our shared laughter his soft voice calling my name.

Ma comes to me and urges me to do as Pandit ji says but I ignore her.

I glance at Papa then at Etasha, giving her a bitter smile. Slowly, I walk to the oil can placed beside the havan kund. I pick it up with shaking hands and pour the oil over myself. It's cold at first but the smell of kerosene fills the air sharp and pungent.

"Samhitaaaaa!" Voices scream, but I don't care.

I grab a burning stick from the havan kund holding it firmly in my hand. I hear desperate cries but they're distant. "Samhiiiiii diiiii nahi nahi nahi please di please esa mat kro please meri baat suno di usse niche rakhdo samhi dii please diii"

Etasha distant voice was in the background.

"Samhita beta, put that down! Are you mad? You're not thinking straight. Please, don't do this!" My mother's fake concerned voice. Yes because I know she doesn't care about me, but she cared about her reputation around people.

"Neer, please let me go. I need to be with her. Please, Neer, stop her!" Etasha's voice breaks.

"Samhita, stop this madness! You can't do this!" another voice pleads. But they can't understand. This is the only way.

"Etasha you wanted me to live in happy peaceful life, then please don't stop me, please. I want to go to my Yansh, he must be waiting for me."

And with that, I bring the burning stick closer to my body. The flames catch quickly. In seconds, my body is engulfed in fire. But the pain I feel is nothing compared to the pain I've carried in my heart all this time.

As my vision blurs I hear his voice. Yansh.

"Itaaaaa!"

I open my eyes one last time and see a blurry figure running towards me. It's him. Yansh is here. A small, peaceful smile touches my lips.

And then everything goes dark.
