Both families were gathered in the living room, exchanging greetings and pleasantries. The Shekhawats and the Rajputs had been family friends for generations. The Shekhawats belonged to the royal lineage of Jodhpur. The late King Rajvendra Shekhawat and his wife, Arundhati Shekhawat—who now holds the title of Rajmata of Jodhpur—were once the most respected figures of the royal household.

They had two children. The elder, Jaiveer Shekhawat, is married to Komal Shekhawat.
